What Is Lecito Divina?

Q

Can you tell me what the practice of Lecito Divina is and is this a pleasing way to pray to God?

A

Lecito Divina is Latin for divine reading. It consists of four steps, Reading, Meditation, Prayer and Contemplation. It’s currently very popular among Catholics and gnostics, who use it to gain “secret knowledge” and is becoming accepted by the Emerging Church movement. Proponents say it can used by people of other faiths in reading their “scripture” as well, and followers of no particular faith can adapt it to the four psychological principles of sensing, thinking, intuiting, and feeling.

To me this sounds like another “flavor of the month” New Age formula. I can’t speak for God, but personally I’m sticking to the traditional method of praying, which is to alternate between speaking and listening as in a normal conversation.
