Q
One of the titles God uses for Himself is I Am. I was just wondering what it means literally speaking?
A
When Moses asked God what to say if the Israelites asked who sent him, God replied, “I am who I am. Tell them I am has sent you” (Exodus 3:14).
The Hebrew word translated “I am” is actually the verb “hayah” which means “to become, or exist.” This has come to be understood as “the one who is, and who was, and who is to come” (Rev. 4:8) or “the Eternal One”.
