Go To Work Or Stay At Home?

Published: May 8, 2007
Q

What does the bible teach on the subject of career women? Specifically, is it biblical for a mother of a child (who has a husband as a provider), to seek an employment after when the child is ready to go to the kinder garden? Is this a choice that is left to the families, or is it something that God has a specific commend for?

Tribulation Babies

Q

I want to thank you for your ministry and your work that you do for our Lord Jesus Christ.

My question is this.

Matthew 24:19 says: And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

Does this mean that during the tribulation (before the great tribulation) that women will be able to conceive and give birth? Or is this a symbolic message of some sort?

Thank you and GOD bless.

Are There Prophets Today

Published: May 7, 2007
Q

Every day is an adventure on your website. You don’t know how many you have helped with spiritual dilemmas. Thank you in advance.

My question is: Are there prophets in today’s Christian Church? Our small country church is coming under attack by an attender that is not a member according to our church constitution, who has apparently appointed himself as a prophet, and is defying our church leadership. He follows who many consider a heretic. He has disrupted board meetings, and may disrupt our services. How would you deal with a person like this?

Do We Need Teachers?

Published: May 7, 2007
Q

I have a friend who I think is getting some bad teaching but when I try to discuss it with her she always quotes “Ye need not that any man teach you…” as if that means we are all indwelt by the Holy Spirit and He is the Teacher and she doesn’t need anyone else (save for the Holy Spirit) to show her anything. The problem is, I believe that is true, sort of.

1 John 2:27 says, “But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.”

Yet, the Lord has given us teachers who are specifically gifted by the Holy Spirit (Thank you, Jack.) to teach the body, and, the Lord Himself commands

Mat 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Mat 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.

So, I’m hoping you can shed some light on the apparent discrepancy of “ye need not that any man teach you”, and, He has given us teachers and commands us to be teachers?

Suleiman And The East Gate

Published: May 5, 2007
Q

Somewhere on the web a couple of years ago I read a story about a muslim Turk, Suleiman the Magnificent. I believe the story goes that he walled up the Eastern Gate in 1530 in defiance of a tradition of Christians who preached of a day when Jesus would return to Jerusalem and walk through the gate.

However, it turns out that his blocking the gate only fulfilled scripture that says the gate would be “walled up” and that “no-one” would enter through it again until Jesus Himself does upon his return.

I have read that scripture before (the walling up art), but I don’t remember where I read it (at I think thats what its referring too). Anyway, story goes that a muslim ruler after Suleiman hears of the Christian’s prophecy that no one would enter the Eastern Gate except Jesus when he returns and he decides to prove all those pesky Christians wrong by ordering the removal of the blocks from the wall. However, during the night before the project was to begin he died in his sleep (whoa). The project never took place the to this day the Eastern Gate is still walled up.

Have you ever heard of this? Any truth to it?

Suspicions About Mark 16

Published: May 5, 2007
Q

Two part question for “ask the Bible Teacher.”

1. I’ve recently had a discussion with someone concerning Mark 16:9-20. The footnote in my bible states that the oldest and more reliable manuscripts did not include these verses. What do you think of this?

2. Mark 16:17-18, “These signs will accompany those who have believed….” Then giving a list of the signs that “will” accompany those who believed, casting out demons, speaking in new tongues, picking up serpents, laying hands on the sick, and they “will” recover. It would seem that the writer was very forceful that these things “will” happen to those who have believed. I’m a full out believer in Christ, and I have never cast out any demons, spoke in a new tongue, and snakes scare me! What is your take on these few verses?

Gomer As Germany

Published: May 5, 2007
Q

In the Ask a Bible Teacher’s Prophecy and Current Events question you said, “I don’t believe there’s any specific mention of Germany in prophecy”. I have been taught that Ezekiel 38-39 mentions Germany as Gomer. Is this wrong, and if so, can you tell me where Gomer actually is? Thank you so much and God Bless you and your wonderful ministry!!

Human Alien Hybrids Follow Up

Q

Please could you clarify what you mean by ‘…alien hybrids inhabiting the earth….’ in your answer to “Human Alien Hybrids”? Do you think aliens actually exist and if so were they created by our God?

Visiting Loved Ones

Published: May 3, 2007
Q

If I understand correctly, the millennium on earth will be populated by humans who were born during the tribulation or saved after the rapture. Why would God want us (believers) to be separated from our loved ones at the millennium? Believers won’t be with the humans alive on earth at that time, as I understand it. What if the people on earth include some of our children or grandchildren? Or a spouse or dear friend? We would be separated from our families or dear loved ones for 1,000 years. That seems harsh.

Thanks for your help. I really appreciate your godly wisdom and insight!!
