The Lord’s Real Name

Published: June 13, 2007
Q

I’m from India. I’m a Christian believer.I used to attend church, meetings everything which belong to God. But since a couple of days one question is killing my faith and burning my soul. Please clarify this doubt.

What is the real name of our Lord Jesus Christ? For example there are several Muslims around the world. They all call their God as ALLAH only. But in our mission, English people call as Jesus, Hindi people call as Iesa, Greeek People call as Iesus Christos, Telugu people call as Yesu, etc., This made me think thoroughly that what might be the real name of God.

When I began studying the bible the spirit guided me and gave me a reply. God of the Scriptures talked with Moses near a fiery bush. There he spake with moses and told his name in the language HEBREW. In new testament also God spake with Apostle Paul in Damascus and told his name in HEBREW again. This made me understand that God told his name only Hebrew. That might be his real name. I think that we all are praising him with pagan names. But anyhow I’m afraid a lot in dealing this subject. Please help me and save me from this feelings.

Two Questions

Q

1st question, ” How long of time was it between the taking of Enoch to Heaven and the time of the Flood of Noah? “.

2nd question, ” Do you see that most of the Second Coming Prophecy’s are mostly starting and being fulfilled after 1948 or are they mostly starting and being fulfilled after 1967? “.

Immigration Reform?

Published: June 12, 2007
Q

Will this new Immigration Law play a role in end-times if passed??

It seems it would destroy the Republican Party in that immigrants vote Democratic.

And it certainly appears these Democratics are more appeasing to Islam. Could this be a step in abandoning Israel and/or giving this false “sense of peace” which is needed??

God Or Gods?

Published: June 9, 2007
Q

Gen 1:26: Let us make man in our image…

How do you explain this? Is it referring to the trinity? I’m seeing it used to justify someone’s view that God is in a ‘crew’ of god’s.

Also, this is what someone posted in a forum;

‘YHWH was a war god in a bigger pantheon. The Bible also mentions Him having a wife that lived with Him in the Temple, multiple instances of “greater than all other gods” and it’s like, and often the term translated as “false” doesn’t mean the other gods aren’t real, but that they aren’t THE god. Again: henotheistic, not monotheistic.’

How do I prove this person is wrong?

Women’s Head Covering

Published: June 9, 2007
Q

Got another sticky one and hoping you can help. I am teaching on 1 Cor 11:3-17 and Paul’s Teaching that women should pray and prophesy only with their heads covered. It’s kinda a big elephant in the room. You helped me with the parable of the Talents. What do you teach on this?

Should They Leave?

Published: June 7, 2007
Q

Thank you for your insight that must be God-given. My parents were instrumental in my spiritual growth, and are very knowledgeable. However, they belong to a church that doesn’t recognize Israel’s rebirth as prophecy fulfilled, don’t believe OSAS, the bodily resurrection, the rapture…I could go on. They (my parents), however, do believe these things. When asked why they stay in that church, they say, “there are many people within that church that believe as we.” I believe that they remain because they’ve gone there for so many years. Should they leave that church for one that adheres more closely to scripture? Thank you.

What About NDE’s?

Published: June 5, 2007
Q

How do you feel about NDE’s? Do you feel that they are legit heavenly experiences and that we should listen to the people who have had them and accept their stories as real? Do you feel that God would let some people “die” in order to show them heaven, then send them back?

What about NDE’s that people in India have? They claim to see their gods. What does all this mean? Any insight would be greatly appreciated as I have been fascinated by this topic for some time and I am often confused and unsure about what I am reading.

Tithing, Grace Or Law?

Published: June 4, 2007
Q

I have just read your article on tithing and I still have questions that are unanswered. First, the tithing for New Testament believers is very questionable to me. I find that in the entire N.T. there’s no place where Jesus instructs the church (except for the Pharisees) to tithe. The apostles do not mention tithing either. I was of the idea that N.T. believers were under grace and not Law.

In my entire life as a Christian, I have never been blessed because of the tithe but God always blesses me when I give. I believe that when I give I am making a covenant with God and He never disappoints me unless I did not give in the right spirit.

Spouse Or Stranger?

Published: June 4, 2007
Q

I have severely abused the servers getting everything I can get my mouse on for reading at work, and I thank you for your ministry. It has transformed my spiritual life in the largest rejuvenation since my Salvation experience. Literally every day I realize something new that contradicts bad theology and beliefs about my walk with God.

I read in your Ask A Bible Teacher column about marriage in heaven and the knowledge greatly distressed me. Please explain what elderly couples like my grandparents who were married fifty-odd years and totally devoted to each other (Grandma still keeps track of her wedding anniversaries) do if the spouse that left first won’t remember them or be married to them in some aspect in the New Jerusalem.

In my personal life I love my wife unconditionally and have a very hard time reconciling that we won’t be married in any respect in Heaven. I can understand women with four husbands or horrible marriages not wanting to see these guys in heaven, but what about happily married couples? Will I go from “till death do you part” to “Hello, I’m your next door neighbor!”? Grandmother tells me what she misses Grandpa and wants to be wherever he is, and a driving goal of mine is to be reunited with all of my saved loved ones in the Rapture.

In a nutshell will happily married couples who wait in faith to be reunited in heaven be subsequently broken up upon “putting on the incorruptible”? Will the family unit survive the Rapture? I love my wife and I don’t want her to become a stranger to me.

A Proper Use Of Our Tithe?

Published: June 3, 2007
Q

My wife and I have decided to tithe and put it first in our finances. We have been sending some money to a missionary for a while now, but not the full ten percent. A week after we made this decision and were going to start my father calls and says that he and my mother would like to stop by and talk with my wife and I. After some persuading he tells me it has to do with their finances, and that things are not going very well. My wife and I prayed that God’s will be done, and to let us listen with love. My parents came over the next day and proceeded to tell me that they were falling behind by a few hundred each month because of one large bill, and that they are going to file for bankruptcy. My wife and I listened then excused ourselves for a few minutes and quickly agreed that we had to help. We told them of our decision to tithe regularly, and the amount that would put us at a full ten percent was only a little less then what they were falling behind every month. We also met with them the next day and helped create a budget that they could stick to, and got their bills up to date.

My question is this, will God see this as tithing, or did I just put my earthly wealth into earthly things until this large bill is paid for? We did not give them the money with the hope of being paid back, and have decided that if they feel the need to pay it back, then the money will go to the Church.
