What Is A Mason?
Published: December 30, 2007I would like to know what a mason is. I was told that when my father-in-law was a member of the VFW and the Knights of Columbus that he was a member of a secret society. All his friends belong to the same clubs and all were Christians. I do not understand. People tell me he was a mason and that this was not Christian. Please explain. Thank you for your time and your web site. I have learned much from you.
Is King Abdullah The Anti-Christ?
Published: December 26, 2007I was wondering what you think about the belief of (a web site writer) that possibly the anti-Christ is the King of Jordan, King Abdullah ll, who is actively uniting the Arab Nations toward the peace agreement of Israel? He states that this King has the power to allow the Jewish people to build their temple. His lineage is traced back directly to the wife of Mohammad.
We have been doing a lot of research on this King and he is very much liked. He said that the Bush Administration is looking perhaps to make him an overseer of Iraq. He is really gung-ho militarily which the writer attributes to the worship of the God of fortresses. Muslims believe that the Mahdi is perhaps a military figure that is unaware of who he is at this point, and would have a direct lineage to Mohammad.
Mental Illness Or Demonic Oppression?
Published: December 26, 2007How do we discern the difference between true mental illness and demonic oppression? Mental illness and prescription drug abuse seem very prevalent in our society.
We have several people in our small church who are on social security disability for bi-polar disease and schizophrenia. These people profess to be Christians and yet are emotionally defeated. They do not exhibit the fruit of the Holy Spirit and on occasion have caused much turmoil within the church. If they lie or do something hurtful they fall back on their disease as an excuse.
How do we discern between true followers of Christ who are mentally ill and the mentally ill who are using the church as a crutch? or are they possibly demon oppressed?
What About Gentile Saints?
Published: December 25, 2007As I read the Old Testament, I realize that there were also “gentiles” that believed in the true God of the Bible. Job, for instance, was not an Israelite, but was Jew, right? I constantly hear that the promises of the kingdom age are for Israel. Then what of the other Old testament saints? Are they included in that covenant?
What If we’re Wrong Again?
Published: December 25, 2007I know a lot of prophecy scholars use the general life span of 70 years for the countdown for all end time prophecy to be fulfilled which leads us to 2018 or 2037. But We are also told man can live up to 80 years if they are strong and God also limits our years to 120. I’m so scared of another false hope debacle.
So many people swore the end of this age would come by 1988 due to a generation lasting 40 years. They were obviously wrong. So what if 2037 passes? Will people start saying we were wrong again and it could at the latest be 2087 (1967 + 120 maximum lifespan)?
Understanding Revelation 17
Published: December 25, 2007The following passage is from Revelation 17.
“This calls for a mind with wisdom. The seven heads are seven hills on which the woman sits. They are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come; but when he does come, he must remain for a little while. The beast who once was, and now is not, is an eighth king. He belongs to the seven and is going to his destruction.”
The passage says that the 7 heads are 7 kings (kingdoms) which represent the 7 world empires (Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greek, Roman, and the revived roman empire of the Anti-Christ). The passage then goes on to say that the beast who once was and now is not, which is describing the anti-christ is an 8th king. I cant quite figure this out. If the Antichrist and his government are counted as one of the seven, why is he then called an 8th king? Any help you can give me would be much appreciated.
Are The Dead Awake Or Asleep?
Published: December 24, 2007Last year we lost our only child to cancer. He was only 29. He trusted Jesus for salvation and on his tombstone is the wonderful, assuring verse, “absent from the body; present with the Lord.” But, I would love to know if my son is awake and enjoying his new life or is he simply sleeping? I’ve asked Jesus to give you the right answer for me. Thank you so much!
Will Babies Cry In The Millennium?
Published: December 24, 2007In the Millennial period there is not supposed to be any problem with sin as Satan will be locked up for 1000 years and then set free for a while. My question is during the time period that there is no sin will babies still cry when they are uncomfortable, like hungry or wet or cold? Isn’t the reason babies cry now because sin is a part of us from birth?
For instance, will there be any chance of illness or pain during this time? If we, the Church, will reign with Christ, on earth, doing different jobs, i.e. governing, teaching etc., without any sin in people’s lives why would they still need any help at all? No need for hospitals, nurses, doctors etc. I’m sure you see my point and am very interested in what you believe.
Earthquakes In Israel
Published: December 24, 2007I know there’s mention of a massive earthquake occurring in Revelation, so I’m wondering if recent realizations about the stability of the Dead Sea and Carmel Fault lines that both run under Israel could have any bearing on future events there?
The Purpose Of The Church
Published: December 23, 2007What do you think of denominations? I see the denominations as a divisive and counter to Jesus’ prayer in John 17. In this chapter Jesus is praying for unity for all the would believe. He obviously knew that the church would have a problem with this.
I don’t believe that there is necessarily a blue print laid out in Scripture for what a church is supposed to be, but there are examples. I am tired of churches being run like businesses with clever marketing schemes. I simply want the truth. I have a Bible degree, but have had a hard time of finding what the purpose/design of the church is. Anyhow, maybe you can give me some insight into.
Also, what does Biblical discipleship look like? Thanks.
