Hebrews 6, Follow Up

Published: January 2, 2009
Q

I really enjoyed this article – but I have a question I did not see addressed. What is your opinion on backsliders? I have several adult children who professed faith in Christ as children and now are not walking with the Lord. Obviously, this causes me distress and I pray for them constantly. Are they still saved even though they have walked away and are living a sinful lifestyle?

The Lord has given me two words regarding them: “Their times are in My Hands, not yours.” and “Let them come to Me”. I know it truly is out of my control (an issue the Lord’s working on in me) :o) but it is difficult to see them unhappy in life but hardened. I have struggled with where they would go should they die prematurely. Thank you for the wonderful articles you write – they have truly been a blessing and encouragement.

A Demon Possessed Believer?

Published: January 1, 2009
Q

I have been a believer in Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord since my early twenties. Off and on through out my life I have had episodes where I’ve done things and not remembered doing them. One episode was particularly bad and resulted in making trouble for me at my job. Because of it I began therapy with a psychologist who gave me a diagnosis of DDNOS. It’s not a very clear way to diagnose someone but to me it meant I have different personalities in my mind that may for short periods take over my mind and behavior. I know that some churches believe strongly that this is a form of demon possession. Jesus who was accused of being possessed stated ‘ a house divided cannot stand’ or a Christian believer who is indwelt by the Holy Spirit cannot also be possessed by a demon. I need to know what you believe about all of this and/or about multiple personality disorder. It is very hard for me to ask you this as the idea of being possessed terrifies me. Thank you as always for your help and your web site.

More On Millennial Sacrifices

Published: January 1, 2009
Q

I found it interesting in Ezekiel that temple sacrifices will once again take place during the millennial age. Since Christ died once and for all and His work is finished, why are there temple sacrifices again?

Another Ephesians 4 Follow Up

Q

In the first 3 chapters of Ephesians Paul’s tone seems much different than in the last three, almost as it was two different messages that were spliced together. Can you explain this?

The Anti-Christ And Mr. Obama, Follow Up.

Published: December 28, 2008
Q

I have read with great displeasure as you and some others have perpetuate this idea that Mr. Obama is the anti-Christ. We do not yet know what tomorrow will bring. However, if you want me to take you seriously, will you promise on your website that if after 4 or 8 years Mr. Obama has not become the anti-Christ you insinuate he may be you will give an unreserved apology to him.

Who Are The Netzari?

Published: December 26, 2008
Q

I have only recently became aware of a group called the Netzari. From what I have read it looks like they are trying to follow the law and live under grace at the same time. I dont see how that is possible. What do you make of this group of people?

Why Did God Judge Eve, Follow Up

Published: December 26, 2008
Q

In your Ask a Bible Teacher section, I came upon this question, Why Did God Judge Eve First?, and have a question of my own.

In Genesis 3:6 – “So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.”

Does “with her” mean at the time of her conversation with the serpent? If Adam was with her, had he not already sinned by allowing her to eat of the fruit?

Did They Hear It Or Didn’t They?

Published: December 18, 2008
Q

In the book of Acts when Luke tells of Saul’s conversion in chapter 9 v 7, he says those that were with Saul heard a voice but saw no man. Then in chapter 22 v 9, Paul tells it that they who were with him saw the light, but did not hear the voice that spoke to him. Why are we reading two different versions of this amazing event ? Thank you.

Living In Sin Or Not?

Published: December 16, 2008
Q

I want to say that I respect you as one of the foremost Bible teachers of our day. You have helped me immensely over the years. I pastor a small church and for the most part things are going well, but there is one situation that I need your advice on. A few years ago an older couple started coming to our church. I was under the impression they were married but found out later that they’re just living together.

Apparently they want to get married but haven’t yet for financial reasons. She draws a pension from her first husband’s estate and if she remarries she will lose her pension.

My question is: how should I handle this? I decided to write you after reading you articles on divorce, remarriage, and the homosexuality questions that have been posed. I pray for them continually, but wonder if I should confront them about this issue. I believe in grace, but as a pastor you have to deal with things sometimes even when you don’t want to. They are great people. I’m always amazed at your insight and would greatly appreciate any advice you could give me.

Why Pay Attention To Islamic Prophecy?

Published: December 15, 2008
Q

Isn’t the BIBLE the only true prophetic book? Can we put any credence at all in the moslem prophecies? Why should we pay any attention at all to moslem prophecies, except how they can effect the moslems who mistakenly believe them?
