Ask a Bible Teacher

Was I Being A Teacher?

Published: March 10, 2009
Q

Recently I have had a friend come to me with struggles and I have directed him to forget all of his “bible answers” and truly search for God. He grew up in church as I did and I told him to go back to basics and find what truly makes him believe and that it would strengthen him. Was I acting like a teacher? I don’t wish to have a harsher judgment placed upon me, I only wished to help him and I feel as though I was led to tell him this. Can you describe just what being a teacher means?

What Do I Do Now?

Q

First off I would like to say that I have recently found your website and have enjoyed reading it a lot! I have been searching your site for answers and have found many, however, I still have questions.

At one point not long ago, I was convinced that you could lose your salvation. However, after finding your site I have read numerous posts and verses that state to the contrary and now am convinced that you can not lose your salvation (PRAISE GOD!) My question now is: even though I am eternally secure and will go to Heaven, I feel as if I am at a loss at what I am expected to do on Earth. My issue is that I don’t feel as if I am grateful enough. Don’t get me wrong, I am glad that I will be spending eternity with Jesus in Heaven, but I feel that I should be more than just glad. To me, grateful means having the desire to go WAY out of your way to do something for someone even if it is a HUGE inconvenience. I truly want to serve God, I just don’t feel I know how. Any insight would be appreciated.

When Was Jesus Born?

Q

I found your web site this week and it has been a blessing. While some of what I have read I am still digesting, other things I agree with you about.

There is one thing that I disagree with you based on three articles I have read over the past couple of years that seem to have the mathematical evidence for Yeshua being born at Succot rather than Rosh Hashanah.

Does Gomer Refer To Germany In Ezekiel 38?

Published: March 9, 2009
Q

Regarding Ezekiel 38, I can see how most of the nations mentioned are ready to attack Israel, but if the attack took place tomorrow, Gomer (Germany) would not likely join… Any ideas as to what may change this situation?

How Close Is Ezekiel 38?

Published: March 8, 2009
Q

Hi, love your site, keep up the great work. I have a question concerning the Battle of Magog. Do you think that an Israel strike on Iran could “possibly” spark Magog? Since Iran is so close with Russia, a strike on Iran would most likely be killing Russians in addition to Iranians. This being said, with Netanyahu now in office, and a strike really could happen at anytime since Iran has nuclear capability, could we be closer to this than anyone thinks? Thanks for you input on this.

Will I See Them Again?

Published: March 7, 2009
Q

I have recently experienced a miscarriage and also recently found out that my mother, who is now a born-again Christian has had an abortion. The question that has been on my mind since this happened is: Are these children with God now? Is there any scriptural basis to believing that they go directly to heaven? As hard as the answer or lack thereof may be, I would like to know what the Bible says about it. It certainly has been very emotional for my husband and I. I have a deep sense of loss over what might have been.. what my life would have been like with these two people in it. Of course, my natural reaction is to be comforted in the idea that they are with God waiting for me to go home, that I will meet them one day and get to know them, but I really would like to know what the Bible says on this subject. Thanks for your input!

Sharing A Bed But Remaining Pure

Published: March 6, 2009
Q

Our son and his fiancee are traveling east to visit a potential grad school for her. Because it is a long distance they will be staying in hotels along the way. They told us they will be sharing a bed, but will not have sex as they want to wait until they are married. I believe sharing a bed with someone before you are married is wrong, even if you don’t have sex and it’s putting themselves into temptation. They don’t see anything wrong with it. What advice can I share with them?

More On The Ice Age

Published: March 6, 2009
Q

I love this web site. How long do you think it has been since Adam was driven out of the garden? You mentioned that you believed there was an ice age and that it occurred about 10,000 years ago and ended approximately 2000 years before Abraham. Are you suggesting that Adam may have been driven out around that time or, in other words, do you believe that time since Adam has been approximately 6000 years? What are your thoughts?

Ezekiel 38, Zechariah 12, and Zechariah 14

Published: March 5, 2009
Q

I have thought for a long time that the even as mentioned in Zechariah 12 is describing the Ezekiel war as mentioned in Ezekiel 38 and 39 and that Zechariah 14 is about the event that will occur later during the tribulation period. However, as I read Zechariah 12:3 again where it is written, ” On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations…”,

I am puzzled. Zechariah 12:3 mentioned “all nations”, whereas Ezekiel 38 and 39 give a list of the nations that will attack Israel. Can I use the verse in Matthew 12:30 “He that is not with me is against me…” to say that the rest on the nations do not come to help Israel during Ezekiel war thus in a sense all the nations are against Israel? Or, is Zachariah 12 talk about a total different scenario than that is mentioned in Ezekiel 38, and 39?

Playing In The Spirit

Q

Thank you for an amazing website! So many things have been made clearer to me because of it. I was reading 1 Chronicles 25 this morning and the words “who were to prophesy with lyres, harps and cymbals” caught my attention. Can you explain how to prophesy with music?
