The Charter For Compassion

Published: April 25, 2009
Q

My question is as follows, I have heard that in the final days there will be something like a “world religion” sprouting out in support of the Anti-Christ. Am I correct in this? If so, what are the chances that this “Charter for compassion” promoted by their named “Council of sages” is possibly related to this?

Why Couldn’t Mary Hold Him?

Published: April 24, 2009
Q

The Gospel according to John teaches that after Jesus was resurrected He appeared to Mary Magdalene and instructed her not to “hold” Him because He had not yet ascended to His Father. Yet after that and before the ascension, He told Thomas to place his hand in His side. What happened between the events to allow Thomas to touch Him when Mary could not?

Who Are The Other Gods?

Q

Thank you for your site -it is a great source of my inspiration. Thanks to your articles and answers to people’s questions published on your site, I feel constantly on fire to study the Word.

I am a bit confused about the meaning of Exodus 22:28 – “Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.” Also in John 10:34 – “Jesus answered them, ‘Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?” What gods does it talk about?

Matt. 24:34. Generation Or Race?

Published: April 20, 2009
Q

Thank you very much for your website.

I have got a question concerning Matthew 24:34. Does the Greek word for “generation” really mean generation or could it also mean nation? Did Jesus really mean that the generation who sees the reborn of Israel also sees His return? Or could He have meant that the Jews will not be wiped out until He returns?

If the word “generation” means nation, then this verse wouldn’t give us any indication about the time frame of His return. Could you please give me any insight on this?

Is My Friend Saved?

Published: April 19, 2009
Q

I have a Mormon friend who believes and practices everything her church teaches her. I have witnessed to her many times but to no avail. After sending her bible tracts and dozens of online articles pointing out failed prophecies by past Mormon elders, and being continually ignored, I feel it is time for me to step aside. Perhaps someone else will manage to convince her of what I couldn’t. My question is this: if, for some reason, she never does change her viewpoint and dies with her same beliefs, is she saved?

Giving To Get?

Published: April 18, 2009
Q

At our church, Malachi 3: v10 is often quoted when they talk about giving. If they would just say that you are to give 10% and let it go, I would be ok, but they quote Mal. 3: v10 and say test God and see if the floodgates will not be opened. I think I have tested God and in my opinion the floodgates have not been opened. I understand that you are supposed to give out of grattitude of what God has done for you and not because of what you will get from God. My question is, why do churches use Mal. 3 v10 as a tool for encouraging people to give?

Debating An Atheist

Published: April 18, 2009
Q

I am in a debate with someone that denies the existence of omnipotence and perfection, especially as it concerns God. Can you help me with an answer?

Also, do you know a good response to his question “Can God make a rock so heavy that he can’t lift it?” And, “Can God make a dance club so exclusive that He can’t get in?” I told him that those two questions appeared to be ridiculous to me but his response is “See? You can’t answer”.

He, of course is an atheist who is constantly using atheistic books, films and other material to disuade believers and I am not qualified to really debate with him but I am trying. I would appreciate any help you could give me.

Do you know the answer to the folded napkin in Jesus tomb? Is there scriptural proof of what that could represent?

Is Artificial Insemination OK?

Published: April 17, 2009
Q

Much, much praise for your invaluable website.

What are your thoughts on sperm donors? If a woman’s husband is infertile, could she be inseminated with a donor’s sperm? I’m thinking that it’s not necessarily sinful because the act of sex is not actually involved…also, what about an unmarried woman who decides she wants to have a child on her own and gets inseminated? It’s the sperm of someone she’s not married to, but sex isn’t involved.
