Peddling God’s Word
Published: March 4, 2013Re: 2 Cor. 2:17. I make wooden plaques with Scripture on them and was thinking of selling them but this verse causes me concern. Selling them for a profit bothers me, but at the same time people are blessed by having the word of God in their midst. I want to honor the Lord and not do this for selfish reasons or gain although sometimes I wonder on occasion if my motives are right.
OSAS And 2 Peter 1:5-10
Published: March 1, 2013In 2 Peter 1:5-10, Peter says to make your calling and election sure by growing in your faith so one does not “fall away”. Does this mean I could lose my salvation?
The Pool Of Bethesda
Published: February 28, 2013I have a question about the use of a “pool of bethesda” in churches today. I was at a church that used this as a means to receive blessings from God and also healing. Their reasoning is that you should start thanking God for blessings you asked for before you walk through the pool. In this way you start acting like you have already received the blessings and if you believe this, then they will come to be.
I know that the original pool of Bethesda was where Jesus performed the miracle of healing on the man that waited for 38 years for someone to help him into the pool when it was stirred. Is there any scripture that would verify this pool can be used in today’s churches to receive blessings from God?
Apathy And Apostasy
Published: February 27, 2013My preparations to teach an adult Sunday school class at my church led me to the mention of the “Iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full” in Genesis 15:16 . I expressed my conviction to the class that God’s destruction of every nation and people in history has always followed when His warnings against wickedness were ignored and that America’s descent into the abyss of evil in defiance of His warning means His judgement is sure to follow. Some astute class members really agreed, but some others were offended by my analogy to America. Somehow, apathy and outright apostasy seem to lurk in even churches where the Gospel is faithfully taught. Have you also found this to be true?
Why Burn The Weapons?
Published: February 27, 2013In light of the recent discoveries of oil and gas reserves in Israel’s territorial waters, it struck me as odd that Israelis would be burning weapons left from the Gog/Magog Battle. This can only mean one thing: the Israeli survivors will be scavenging.
Believing And Asking
Published: February 26, 2013Re: How Important Is Asking? Reading this made me ponder on my own circumstances when I got saved. Someone told me about Jesus one night years ago and I immediately became full of joy and excitement at the thought of asking the Lord to be my savior and to forgive my sins. I believed at that moment that Jesus was the only one who could save me. However, being a shy person I waited until I was alone (that same night) before I asked Jesus to save me and forgive my sins. So, my question is “was I saved in between the time I was first told and believed it until I officially asked for it less than an hour later?”
The Great White Throne Judgment
Published: February 26, 2013I have a friend who believes those who have gone to hell can still be saved at the great white throne judgement. What is this? I’ve never heard that people could repent of sins on earth after they have died. Can you please give me some insight to this line of thought? Please provide Scripture to back it up or refute it.
Reigning With The Lord
Published: February 24, 2013You state on your web site that after the tribulation, the church will inhabit the New Jerusalem, which sort of hovers over the earth. That’s what I have always believed, too. But Thessalonians 4:17 says: “Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” If Jesus is ruling on earth during the Millennium and we shall forever be with the Lord, doesn’t that mean we will be on earth with Him?
Eyewitnesses To The 2nd Coming. Follow Up
Published: February 23, 2013Re: Eyewitnesses To The 2nd Coming. I was taught that all of the Disciples had died, except John who lived to be in his 90’s. On the Isle of Patmos he was given by Jesus Himself, the full Revelation of His Kingdom ! “some of you will not taste death until ….” The disciples didn’t understand what He was saying but He knew that He would appear personally to John and give in detail, that which would occur in the end times.
Why Did The Lord Ask Me That?
Published: February 23, 2013One morning during my prayer time, a certain person, who I prayed for often, kept coming to my mind. It was a very persistent urging to pray for him, which I did. An hour later he was dead. Why do you think the Lord urged me to pray for someone who He knew was about to die?
