Is The Rapture Near?

Published: January 24, 2014
Q

So many prophecy teachers say we are in the end times, and the rapture is near. Do they imply that we could be raptured this year or in the next 3-5 years? I understand no one knows the day or hour but I would like your thoughts.

Can Unbelievers Be Taught By The Holy Spirit?

Published: January 24, 2014
Q

Like others who have written I struggle with my salvation and I am sick of tripping over it. I know the Holy Spirit teaches me and guides me. So my question is simply can we be taught and led by the Holy Spirit if we are not saved?

Paul A Sinner? How Could This Be?

Published: January 23, 2014
Q

In Romans 7:14, what sin(s) do you think Paul is referring to? I know there was only one man who lived a sinless life. Yet it is apparent Paul was the most powerful and obedient Christian of all (after his conversion). How was he constantly overcome with sin? Yes he was born with a sin nature like all of us, but as a powerful vessel of Christ, I don’t see him as someone constantly struggling with sin the more he tried not to sin. Your thoughts on this?

How Is Matt. 24:34 A Sign? Follow Up

Q

Re: How Is Matt. 24;34 A Sign? In this post you stated: “Therefore, we’re not supposed to keep track of the number of people born in 1948 who are still alive to see how close the 2nd Coming is, but rather to understand that before an average lifespan has passed since we saw the first sign, the 2nd Coming will have taken place.”

I have always thought that this time frame refers to the timing of the Rapture of the Church, not the Second Coming of Christ. Since those 2 events are 7 years apart, I’m confused now as to what Matt. 24:34 is stating. Is it saying that the generation born in 1948 will be alive to see the Rapture or the Second Coming? Can you clarify this please?

Questions About Heaven

Published: January 22, 2014
Q

When we die do we go straight to Heaven and do we get to see all our loved ones, and others we want to meet? Will we meet God? What exactly would we look like? I heard that we will get new bodies, but will we still look the way we look here just without any injuries, diseases, and etc? If we do bad things when we’re on Earth would still get to go to Heaven? When someone passes away do they remember how they died or anything from when they lived on Earth?

Why Was John Baptizing?

Published: January 22, 2014
Q

I have a question regarding baptism. Why was John the Baptist baptizing people if Jesus had not come and died on the cross yet? When did the practice of baptism begin and what was the purpose? I thank you for all the wisdom you share.

Should I Cut Off My Hand?

Published: January 22, 2014
Q

What does Matthew 5:30 mean? “If your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away”. I’m sure Jesus didn’t mean that literally, but what did He mean?

Too Good To Be True?

Published: January 21, 2014
Q

I was reading articles about the Rapture recently and came across one on the pre-wrath view. I don’t know if you want to read it or care to, but it really upset me. It is talking about what I have feared myself. I have been asking my husband if we should not prepare for such an occurrence. He believes in the Pre-Trib rapture and I have always thought that made sense. Maybe I am just afraid it won’t be true…like it’s “too good to be true” and wishful thinking.

What Is The Social Gospel?

Published: January 21, 2014
Q

I’m hearing a lot abut ‘the social gospel’ through various websites, but am feeling confused as to the real meaning. In general, the advice seems to be saying follow the ‘true gospel’ and avoid the ‘social gospel’ at all costs – but what is the difference? I’ve also heard the term ‘friendship evangelism’. Is this the same thing and if so, why is it wrong?

I know people who have been friends with Christians for a number of years, when, being impressed by the changes witnessed in their friends lives, have finally wanted to know more about Jesus. If this is a ‘social gospel’ then why is it wrong- or have I missed the point?

Not Sure I’m Saved

Published: January 21, 2014
Q

In Romans 10:9 Paul said if we confess with our mouth, “Jesus is Lord” and believe it in our heart we will be saved. I believe it in my heart but don’t remember if I ever said it with my mouth. I think I probably did but am not sure. I am housebound and don’t see anyone anymore but my wife and worry now that I may not be saved since I may not have confessed it with my mouth. Can you help me?
