In The Body Or In The Spirit?

Published: April 20, 2014
Q

Re: Why Have You Forsaken Me? So with the sun going dark at noon, that tells us that He said this at noon. The sun then stayed dark for three hours, meaning that He was both dying and apart from the Trinity. At 3:00pm He was dead. Was His reunion with the Trinity instantaneous upon his last breath? Also, when He left the grave did he leave in His physical body? I’m talking about like when He went to preach to the spirits (demons?) bound there.

What Did Jesus Look Like?

Published: April 19, 2014
Q

What do you think Yeshua looked like? I know it really doesn’t matter. However, as a practicing and obedient (to the Law of Moses) Jew, would He have had long hair or, perhaps short hair with the long curls on each side? What would he have worn as clothing? In many Protestant churches, there are portraits depicting Him with long straight brown hair, beard and very frail looking. I personally believe there should be no likeness of our Lord displayed since we don’t really know what He looked like and it may be a violation of the 2nd Commandment.

What Happened To Matthias?

Published: April 19, 2014
Q

My question is about Matthias, the apostle who replaced Judas. My SS teacher said that he believes that Paul should have been the replacement apostle rather than Matthias. His reasoning is that there is nothing more known about Matthias after his selection and he says, a careful reading shows that the Lord was not consulted about the selection. I know that Paul is sometimes called the 13th apostle, but is anything known about Matthias?

Why Did Judas Betray The Lord?

Published: April 19, 2014
Q

Since we’re in the Easter season, a thought occurred to me. What was Judas’ motive to betray Jesus? It certainly couldn’t be just the 30 pieces of silver. What did he stand to gain (in his mind) by betraying the Lord?

Pagan Symbols For Religious Holidays?

Published: April 19, 2014
Q

I was reading your commentary on the letters in Revelation to the 7 churches which made me think of a question. Do you think God sees it as a sin that we Christians (really saved) use/display what used to be pagan symbols in our homes at Christmas and Easter such as the Christmas tree, yule logs, eggs, bunnies, etc?

Is Cremation Forbidden?

Published: April 19, 2014
Q

I was speaking to a Christian friend who said in their church they are going to do a Bible Study on cremation. I would like to know what Scriptures says in this regard. At death will we be condemned for cremating our body?

How Could Nicodemus Understand?

Published: April 19, 2014
Q

Before Jesus was crucified and resurrected, he preached the gospel. He told Nicodemus that he must be born again. I wonder what this meant to the people who heard him as the Holy Spirit had yet to be poured out on believers. How could someone be born again when at that time regeneration by the Holy Spirit was not possible yet?

The Lord’s “Seven Last Words”

What are the Lord’s 7 last words from the cross?

Church Goer Or Believer?

Published: April 19, 2014
Q

Recently I read that end times prophecy turned you from life long church goer to born again believer. Can you explain what you meant? Wouldn’t your going to church faithfully mean that you believed in God and subsequently Jesus? After all, isn’t it simply belief in Jesus and that he died for us enough?

What Is The Origin Of Good Friday?

Published: April 18, 2014
Q

I agree with you that the day of the Lord’s death on the Cross was Thursday. My question is, why do we call Friday, “Good Friday?” Even if the day of death was Friday, why would it be called good?
