Dominion Over Earth

Q

What scripture references explain the dominion over this planet? I understand that Adam forfeited the dominion when he sinned to Satan. Is that correct?

From The Heart

Q

What did Jesus mean in Matt. 15:11 by saying it isn’t what goes into a man’s mouth that defiles him but what comes out of it?

Am I Responsible Because She’s Not Saved?

Published: July 3, 2014
Q

My wife is a non-believer. She claims to be an atheist, but that is hardly possible because she is angry with God because of the hatred and injustice espoused by many who call themselves Christians. I pray that God will enlighten her and draw her to Christ but, to avoid conflict in the home, I fail in my duty to witness to her as much as I should. You and I have concurred that she is in God’s hands, and that all I can do, realistically, is to pray for her salvation.

Yet, I love her, and I fear for her eternal destiny. I keep thinking, what can I do? What can I say (as if there were some magical words I could say at just the “right time” that would suddenly awaken her)? I feel that God will hold me accountable if she is lost. I have grown weary and fail to pray as consistently as I should for her. What will Jesus say to me if she is lost because of my weak faith and my failure to pray as I should? How much am I to blame if that happens?

A New Creation?

Q

Scripture says that when one is saved, he becomes a new person; the old person is gone (2 Cor. 5:17). For many years I have struggled with that concept because I have never had an epiphany — never a moment in my memory when “something happened” and I went from being unsaved to being saved. I have never gone from “thinking, feeling, believing, and behaving” in one way to “thinking, feeling, believing, and behaving” in a new and different way. I am still looking for that “new man”, somebody who was suddenly different from who/what he had been before. What am I missing?

Is Jeremiah 29:11 For Us?

Published: July 2, 2014
Q

Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. I quoted this verse to a friend the other day and she came back with a question I wasn’t prepared to answer. She asked “How do we know the promise is for us, and not just for King David?” Would you help me answer this question?

Is It All Or Nothing?

Q

Is salvation dependent on believing that the Bible is completely true? For example, is it important that I believe that Jonah was actually swallowed by a whale and spit back out? Or that Moses actually parted the Red Sea?

The Essentials Of Forgiveness

Published: July 2, 2014
Q

Today, I was having a conversation with a friend about what is required to obtain forgiveness when you commit a sin against someone (specifically, adultery). My friend feels that sincerely asking God for forgiveness and ceasing the sinful behavior is all that is required, especially when the former relationship (marriage) no longer exists and both parties have moved on with their lives. Of course, I feel that it is a must that you ask God for forgiveness, but I feel that you must also ask the person that you wronged for forgiveness as well. I’ve searched the Bible for references on asking for/receiving forgiveness, but I’m still unclear. Can you share your perspective on this?

Will We See Satan’s Defeat?

Q

Will we know when Satan and his angels are thrown out of heaven? The Bible says there will be war in heaven, will we hear or see this event happen?

Spiritual Bodies?

Published: July 1, 2014
Q

In the realm of existence after death, do believers and non-believers ever experience a reality as a disembodied spirit? The rich man, who died, was now in torment and had lips that he wished Lazarus, who died, would touch with a drop of water using his fingers. So it seems as though both had some form of a body.

The 1 John 5:7-8 Problem

Q

My question is: Why is 1 John 5:7 which is in the KJV not included in most other translations?
