Isaiah 9 Fulfilled In History?

Published: January 21, 2015
Q

I received the following “explanation” of Isaiah’s reference to Messiah. How would you address that? Thank you.

“In chapter 9 Isaiah is talking about the future invasion of Assyrian king, Sanheriv, who will defeat the Northern kingdom (Israel/the 10 tribes) and will attempt to destroy the Southern kingdom (Judea) as well. Isaiah is addressing Achaz, the king of Judea, promising him that Sanheriv’s plans will not be realized, because the child who will become a king of Judea, during whose reign Sanheriv’s army will be destroyed, is already born.

Isaiah prophesies here that his name (not him) will be called (among others) a Mighty G-d, and in his days the Assyrian army will be destroyed as a result of a miracle just like the one that happened to Jews in their struggle with Midianites (see verses 3-5 in this chapter).”

Must I Name Every Sin?

Published: January 21, 2015
Q

Thanks for an awesome site. Question: In the last paragraph of your article on “Psalm 83” you state that any unconfessed sin will hamper our fellowship with God. How do I know what this unconfessed sin might be? When in prayer, I confess all my sins that I’m aware of and ask God to forgive me for all these sins and also all other sins that I’m not aware of. Am I still out of fellowship with Him because I did not confess those sins that I’m unaware of by name?

When Did Jesus Die?

Published: January 21, 2015
Q

Thanks so much for your web site, it has been a blessing. Once again, here is another thought about the timing of our Christ being crucified. I’ve read a lot of the articles, and they all make good sense, however I never seen in any of them a couple of scriptures that are very important.

Some suppose it was Good Friday, you say Thursday is the only day, while others say Wednesday. The gospel accounts all added together give us the clearest picture of all, setting aside Jewish traditions. Some say you must account for the traditions, I say the Holy Bible alone will give you the answers. Studying the Gospels, in conjunction with the old testament, when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday that He went into the temple for the first day of inspection. Therefore the three-day inspection ended on Tuesday.

The reasons I believe this are the two scriptures in Mark and Luke. The gospels say there was an earthquake when Jesus gave up His Spirit. The graves were open. The following day they could do no work. The day of the resurrection there was another earthquake. This leads to Friday.Luke 23:55 say the women followed to see where Jesus was laid, vs. 56 says “they returned, and prepared spices and ointments, and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.” Some believing this Sabbath to be Saturday correctly.

Mark 15:47 says the women beheld where He was laid. Mark 16:1 says, “And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint Him.

My question is how they could buy and prepared the spices before and after the sabbath, if the Sabbaths were not Thursday and Saturday? Was Jesus therefore crucified on Wednesday? Thank for your answer.

The Two State Solution

Q

I still enjoy reading your site almost daily. I’m so impressed with your insight. Very instructive and very well backed by scripture.

If you have already answered this question on your site, I missed it. My question is about the two state solution Israel is getting forced into. Do you see anywhere is scripture that God is going to allow the Palestinians to actually have a state next to Israel on Israel’s land with Jerusalem as their capital?

I have a hard time seeing that happening. Obviously, it wouldn’t be God ordained if it were to happen, but I wonder how much longer God is going to let Israel keep conceding His land before He steps in? Conceding land is one thing, but an actual state that Palestinians can lay claim to and have the legal authority over? I don’t know. What are your thoughts?

The End Of The Age

Published: January 21, 2015
Q

I was wondering: Did God have John mention Gog/Magog in Revelation in order to give us some information about the Gog/Magog in Ezekiel? Specifically, that the Ezekiel Gog/Magog war will also end one age and begin another. Meaning the end of the Church age and the beginning of Daniel’s 70th week? It seems like you might have already said as much.

Paul’s Account Of Abraham

Published: January 21, 2015
Q

Thanks so much for your ministry and the time and energy you devote to it. I have a question about the faith of Abraham.

Romans 4:10-20 says that Abraham did not waver in his faith, in regards to the Promise. I believe that this is true. Clearly, he believed in the promise of a son in order to continue to do the things that are necessary for a couple to have children. Doing this even unto very old age.

What I’m trying to understand better is why Abraham took Hagar when she was offered.

I’m just trying to reconcile how saying his faith in a promised son didn’t waiver with his decision to be with Hagar for the specific reason of producing a son. Is it that GOD doesn’t expect our faith to be perfect to be acceptable? What was GOD looking at when He said Abraham’s faith did not waiver? I think understanding this better would help me understand the state of my own faith better.

OSAS And Matt. 7:21-23

Published: January 21, 2015
Q

Please explain how OSAS and Matthew 7 verse 21 – 23 are different. Why do preachers use these verses to say if you are not living for the Lord and only the Lord knows your heart, then you may be headed for hell. And please help me understand how OSAS works, even for a Christian who is not living for the Lord.

My Prayers Are Mostly Repeats

Published: January 21, 2015
Q

I have a good prayer life, but I’m wondering if any one else might have the same problem I have. It seems a lot of my prayers are repeats: children saved, family saved, President saved, the Gospel preached, health of loved ones, etc., and other prayers I have. Do I really need to say these every night and every morning? Does God get tired of hearing the same requests over and over?

The Path To Destruction

Published: January 21, 2015
Q

I went to bed last night thinking and praying about the term, “freedom of religion.” I believe God blessed this nation for many years because it was predominately made up of Christians, but this “freedom of religion” has come to mean any religion and their false gods were welcome here. Shouldn’t it have been “freedom from false religions”? It seems to me that our founders would have known this would happen and that multiculturalism and false gods would take over our nation. What are your thoughts on this “freedom of religion”? Will this nation be destroyed because of its moral decay and false gods and that is the reason the United States of America is not mentioned in end times prophecy?
