Discipling A New Believer

Published: February 4, 2015
Q

I have this friend that excepted Jesus only a year ago. At that time, she was in a Catholic church. She now is going to a Catholic one one week and then an Evangelical one the next. She was living with a man, unmarried, and she is a widow with a 13 year old daughter.

I have tried to tell her and show her what the Holy Bible says about her situation, to no avail. The man has moved out, but, they are still seeing each other.

My question to you is, ” how long do I keep telling her what the Bible say’s about fornication, being unequally yoked, and an assortment of other things that she is doing and ignoring Gods’ word? Should I stop speaking to her? (1 Cor. 5: 9-11)

At one time I told myself that I would no longer tell her what Scripture says about her actions, but, then she will ask a biblical question, and I answer it. She has gotten really good at quoting to other friends what I have told her the Bible says, but she won’t read it for herself. I have even gone to the extent of asking her to examine herself and see where she has been obedient to Jesus. No, she hasn’t gotten baptized yet. I have explained to her about the different soils, and nothing gets her attention! I would appreciate any input that you have! I don’t want to loose a longtime friend, but, I want to be obedient to Jesus even more.

Are Mormons Saved?

Published: February 4, 2015
Q

Just wondering what exactly are the beliefs of Mormons? I have cousins who are devout Mormons and I have always found they have some weird beliefs (such as the ‘book of Mormon’ & prophets and what not).

However, they all seem to be good Christians – from what I understand, they still believe that Jesus is our Savior, despite their other ideas, (I’m not sure though). Would that mean that they are still saved or not? I’m just asking because in your answers to some other questions it sounds like they aren’t saved unless they are below the age of accountability.

How Can I Explain The Rapture

Published: February 4, 2015
Q

My father is a saved Christian, but he doesn’t believe in the Rapture. In fact, his aunt, who is devout and knows the Bible well, explained to him why there isn’t one. How can use Scripture to prove to him there is in fact a Rapture. I’ve pointed out 1 Thess 4, Rev 4, and Isaiah 26:20, but how do I put all of them together to prove it to him?

Was Nero The Anti Christ?

Published: February 4, 2015
Q

I heard that in the Hebrew language each letter has a numerical value and when you translate number 666 to corresponding Hebrew letters, you come out with the name Nero who was persecuting Christians at the time of John’s banishment to Patmos. Do you think John was referring to Nero? Was he perhaps referring to Nero and a future anti-Christ, too?

Was There A Pre-Adamite Race?

Published: February 4, 2015
Q

I have a friend who believes and teaches about preadamites. It isn’t that theory itself bothers me, as much as the idea that comes from it. The bible clearly says that Adam was the first man, and that through him (Adam) was sin and death brought into the world. If a race was already here and God destroyed it, wouldn’t that make these verses in the bible untrue? He teaches that this race happened between Gen 1:1, and Gen1:2 during the Gap Theory. Any biblical thoughts would be more than appreciated, thank you.

Who Were The Thieves and Robbers?

Q

I am a bit confused on John 10:8-10. Does the verse refer to prophets like Elisha, Moses, John the baptist etc? Who were the thieves and robbers who came before Jesus?

When Did The Disciples Receive The Holy Spirit?

Published: February 4, 2015
Q

What is going on in John 20 when Jesus breathed on the disciples and told them to receive the Holy Spirit? Prior to this event, Jesus told them He could not send the Holy Spirit to them until after He returned to His Father. Then after this event He told them to wait in Jerusalem for the arrival of the Holy Spirit. So what happened in John 20, how do we explain this?

Still More On 6,000 Years Or 4.5 Million

Published: February 4, 2015
Q

you state that “God said He created both the animal kingdom and mankind in a single day about 6000 years ago” (Genesis 1:24-31) I can accept that man etc was created in one day, but where in the Bible are we told that it was 6000 years ago. I have always believed that this is based on the various genealogies listed in the early books of the bible, but I also understood that some of these genealogies are not necessarily complete. I would be interested in reading your thoughts on how the 6000 years have been calculated.

Confronting And Convicting

Q

I met a Muslim girl who attends a great Baptist college here in the US. She expressed to me that she is Muslim, but was having spiritual issues. She came to this university hoping to resolve them, but is still Muslim after attending this university for three years. I told her that I believe Jesus Christ is the Messiah, she just looked at me and nodded her head. I felt ashamed because I just dropped it. Please give me words/ scriptures that I can quote to get her attention. I need to know to “hook” her to read the Bible. We really are strangers, but she keeps popping up in my mind. I do not want to lose her!

Making Atonement For The Tabernacle

Published: February 3, 2015
Q

Lev 16:16 refers to the need to cleanse all the sins in the sanctuary by making an atonement on the day of atonement. Are these the sins that were transferred daily through the lamb sacrifices? How did these sins get into the sanctuary or did OT sanctuary service operate according to a substitute model where sins were transferred to the lamb, and from it to the sanctuary?
