OSAS And Luke 21:19
Published: August 18, 2015I am in discussion with a Greek Orthodox friend about salvation who really seems to be seeking Truth since he is coming to our CC Men’s Bible Study for a couple of years now.
It’s clear that he’s been taught a faith plus works salvation and without works you can lose your salvation, but by using several of your web teachings I am able to answer most of them.
I showed him how Matt. 24:13 is not meant for the Church. Can Matt 10:22 also be projected into the end times due to Matt 10:23? And what about Luke 21:19?
I understand that the Bible can’t contradict itself on the security of a believer, and your OSAS Anthology is a fantastic resource for this subject.
I’m praying that the Holy Spirit will enlighten this Seeker and lead him out of his works orientation. He has stated that he will not know if he has “done enough” until he is standing before the Lord. A terrible burden to be under and would love to help him relieve this burden.
Explaining Psalm 90:10
Published: August 18, 2015Just read your wonderful article on healing. That is the best explanation of Paul’s ‘thorn in the flesh’ I have ever read. I have a question – I would like to read an expansion of Psalm 90:10 where we are given three score years and ten but perhaps to eighty with tribulations.
I have seen many great people of faith in our Lord suffer terribly at about the age of 80. My own much loved brother has terminal cancer at age 81. He has been a man of God all his life and I hate to see this happen to him, but he has instructed all his family to pray, not for healing, but that Father’s Will be done. How do you see this?
Hardening My Heart
Published: August 17, 2015With evil running rampant in the world today, I feel increasingly angry and cold blooded toward those involved. I find it difficult to pray for them. Instead I want God to rain down judgment on them.
My heart still breaks for the unsaved I’m in daily contact with, but those committing the extreme evil I read about it no longer does.
I know this isn’t a road I want to go down. I also know I’m not really all that good myself, an undeserving sinner saved by grace.
What advice would you give?
Confirmation Or Not?
Published: August 17, 2015My question has to do with those individuals in the Body who claim to have received visions or angelic visitations concerning what is coming to pass. A particular incident happened to a godly man that my sister and I know. He says that he had an angelic visitation about 6 mos ago and just recently shared his experience after consulting with the pastor and leadership. The message he received is identical to one given by a close friend of his in 2008. My question is since the messages are identical, is that a confirmation of their validity, or is it an unconscious affirmation that he believes what his friend declared?
After Death
Published: August 17, 2015I have heard, especially at funerals, that the deceased person “has gone to be with the Lord”. The Salvation Army states the deceased has “been promoted to Glory”. I’m having difficulty understanding either of these premises. If a dead person has “gone to be with the Lord”, why is He coming back (for us)? …we will be changed in the blink of an eye…the dead will rise….etc. Your insight would be appreciated. Thanks.
Psalm 118 And The Second Coming
Published: August 16, 2015In Matthew 23:39 and Luke 13:35 Jesus told the Pharisees that He would not return until He heard them say, ” Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord.” This statement appears to be a quote from Psalm 118. I find this very interesting and wanted your thoughts.
How Can I Convert Them?
Published: August 16, 2015I used to belong to (another religion), and most of my family still does. I have tried to teach them the truth but it usually ends up just making them mad. Or they just think I’ve turned into a “religious fanatic”. Can one be saved and still pray to someone other than God and Jesus? I don’t see how, as that seems to be idolatry. They also still believe in works, not just grace. What is your advice on how best to convert them?
Moses In Midian
Published: August 16, 2015Why do you suppose Moses spent 40 years in Midian? What did he accomplish there?
Praying For The Dead?
Published: August 16, 2015I have a friend who has grown up Catholic but has gone to other churches to study the bible. She believes that on All Souls Day, we should pray for our loved ones who have passed on. Is there any biblical evidence for this? When we pass on, don’t our souls go either to heaven or hell? Thank you for your help.
