Is This Good Stewardship?

Published: December 22, 2016
Q

I have a 13 year-old-cat. Yesterday I had to pay about $232 for veterinary care for her. But is it right for me to spend that much money on a cat; when there are so many people in third-world countries who are starving?

When Did The Last Days Begin?

Published: December 22, 2016
Q

In Acts 2:17-21 Peter is quoting the prophet Joel about the last days. So, did the last days start during Peters time? Or was it later? How can we know we are not simply excited about big changes in society and calling it the end times? There were big changes going on during Peters time as well and yet he died without seeing the return of Christ. Might we simply be doing the same thing and are also destined to die without seeing Christs return?

Immanuel, God With Us

Published: December 21, 2016
Q

I always heard that Isaiah 7:14 refers to the prophecy fulfilled by Jesus Christ himself, since He is Immanuel – God with us. But then, the context of the chapter and paragraph gives specific description of something that couldn’t refer to Jesus. The very next verse said: … when he knows enough to reject the wrong and choose right… and so on. And then, Isaiah mentions Assyria. How can you explain that? Does he talk about separate events?

Happy Birthday, Lord

Published: December 21, 2016
Q

My pastor believes that Jesus was born in the Spring, March or April because of the shepherds tending their sheep at that time of the year when the angels appeared to them in the fields, and because the Lord also died in the Spring when he was 33 which would match the time of his birth. Why do you believe that the Lord was born in September? Thank you, as always, for your great insights and for your ministry.

Stuck In New Jerusalem?

Published: December 21, 2016
Q

You have said that the Church will be in the New Jerusalem during the Tribulation and the Millennium, but that we won’t arrive until after the battle of Armageddon. However, scripture says we will return with Jesus when He comes to destroy the nations at Armageddon and thereafter we will rule on Earth with Him. How can we do that if we are stuck in the New Jerusalem floating above Earth?

Finding God’s Promises For Me

Published: December 20, 2016
Q

When reading the Bible, how can one claim a verse of scripture for themselves? For example, Jeremiah 29:11. I have heard so many claim this verse as their own, believing that God intended this for them and their current situation. But as you read this chapter, it is specific to Israel and God releasing them from Babylonian captivity. As I write to you on this, my heart is pounding. I want to claim or pray a verse for my situation, but I am thinking that it is just futile worthless hope. How can I apply verses of God’s word to my situation today when they are part of a bigger issue and theme. Do you understand what I am saying?

You Can’t Serve Two Masters

Published: December 20, 2016
Q

What does the following verse mean? “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” If you love the Lord with all your heart and He gives you more money than you know what to do with does this mean He is testing your faith? Then if you loose it all, and want it back again, does this mean you have left your first love? Have you lost your salvation?

Was King Saul Saved?

Published: December 19, 2016
Q

My Bible study on Sunday night the question came up about King Saul’s salvation. One lady thought there was a verse in the Psalms that said he was saved. The leader of the study thought he was not saved. I could not find the verse. Can you shed any light on this?

Winning Crowns

Published: December 19, 2016
Q

I have a question about the Bema Seat Judgment, when we are judged for our works during our lifetime. I’ve listened to a evangelist who states when we get to this judgment Jesus will ask each one of us what work we did for Him in our lifetime, and some of us will feel remorse in that we didn’t do anything to earn a crown. He then went on to say how badly we will feel to have nothing to give back to the Lord when many others are casting their crowns at the Lord’s feet. I’ve been quite upset since hearing this man talk. Is this really how it will be?

The Holy Spirit, In Us And Upon Us

Published: December 18, 2016
Q

Recently, our pastor gave a message on the Holy Spirit regarding the Greek words ‘en’ and ‘epi’ (the Holy Spirit being ‘in’ a Christian and ‘upon’ a Christian) and said there was a difference. He explained that ‘en’ happened at the time of salvation, which I already knew, of course, but the ‘epi’ , I had not heard of before happened when a Christian had a deeper relationship with Christ and then would receive miracles and blessings. I know blessings happen when we are in fellowship with Christ. I didn’t know about the Holy Spirit being upon us as different from being in us. I would like your thoughts on this and did I understand him correctly?
