Tithing On Alimony
Published: March 3, 2017I have recently become legally separated and have to pay my wife maintenance (alimony), I am currently tithing on my gross income, which is a financial burden. Am I supposed to tithe on the money I pay my wife? Is she supposed to tithe on the amount she receives from me? If the answer to both questions is yes, isn’t this double tithing?
Faith In The West
Published: March 3, 2017A brother asked me a very good question (loaded as well) about why aren’t we performing the miracles as in the days of the apostles. I have heard of some great miracles being performed in other countries, but why not in America? In Mark 16:17 it states these signs shall follow them that believe… where has our faith gone? The Lord says He is not a respecter of persons, so I know if He can use Peter and Paul He can use me as well. Is it a matter of our faith not being at a certain level, or can it have something to do with our condition in this country? Meaning if we get sick, the first thing we reach over for is the medicines not the Oil.
Timing Of Ezekiel
Published: March 2, 2017In response to the recent inquiry concerning Ezekiel 38 timing you quote Ezekiel “from that day forward Israel will know I am the Lord”. However, shortly after that, Israel will turn and worship the anti-christ. That doesn’t look like “from that day forward”. Am I misinterpreting here?
Near Death Experiences
Published: March 1, 2017I’ve been reading accounts on a number of near death experiences and would like to ask: 1. Do you personally believe that such experiences are actual “visits” to heaven or hell? 2. Don’t you think they’d all have the same elements if they were real? (It seems that stories of alien abductions have more similarities than some of these alleged near death experiences.) I find a disturbing lack of consistency and some things that I simply cannot accept as either Godly or Biblical. Some accounts are outright blasphemous. Please give me your take on this issue. I’m very grateful for your help, and for this wonderful site.
The Origin Of Lent
Published: March 1, 2017What is the purpose of Lent and how did it originate? And if we tell somebody what we are doing for Lent, with the purpose of having them keep us in prayer for the 40 days, is that considered a bad thing?
The Curse Of Eve, Follow Up
Published: February 28, 2017I just read your article about the Curse of Eve with great delight. When I was pregnant last year I found some books written by midwives about how to give birth naturally. I discovered, despite what our culture teaches us, that giving birth should not be a traumatic, horrifying, drug-filled event, but a beautiful and natural event; and that the female body is perfectly equipped to do it. I was raised a Christian, and I’m devoted to the Lord, so I was confused about how my new discoveries fit with what I thought the Bible teaches about women being cursed in childbirth. It all makes sense now, and I can follow the paths of natural childbirth without any twinge of confusion or guilt about not being in God’s plan.
I had a question to follow up and clarify your article. For some reason I always assumed that the curses on Adam and Eve applied to all of mankind, though we who are in Christ are no longer bound to the curse. However, are you saying that the curse of Eve applied only to her, and was not passed down to all women after her? Do you think Adam’s curse applied only to him and not to all men? i.e. does the ground produce plants normally now, but for Adam it did not? The curse on the serpent seems to have affected all snakes afterward, since I haven’t seen any snakes with legs recently. What should we learn from these curses? How much of it applies to us?
Span Of Time Between Resurrection And Rapture
Published: February 28, 2017Thank you for your blessed words, I read your comments daily and have a question concerning the coming rapture. I was always confused about the statement that, we would not all sleep, but the dead in Christ would rise first, then we who are alive would follow. I always felt that these two events do not happen in the twinkling of an eye together but rather there is a space of time between the two events. Then I was reading a site where the writer was basically saying that the dead in Christ that rise first will be a warning to those of us alive that the rapture is imminent and will be like the dead that rose from the graves during the death/ resurrection of Christ and were seen in the streets of Jerusalem What is your take of this view?
Misinterpreting Isaiah 26:15?
Published: February 28, 2017I have been reading your articles and enjoy getting your perspective. One thing I want to mention is that you may have mis-interpreted a scripture in Isaiah 26:15
“Thou hast increased the nation, O LORD, thou hast increased the nation: thou art glorified: thou hadst removed it far unto all the ends of the earth.” (King James Version)
That should be interpreted as our LORD’s nation being increased throughout the far ends of the Earth is the true believer’s in Yeshuah has been increased and not the sons of Israel (Jews). I see you mentioned that it may happen through a future battle expanding borders from a future battle as mentioned in Psalms 83. Psalms 83 is the same wrath of GOD mentioned in Ezekiel 38-39 and that will not increase any land mass of Israel but cause the 7 year peace treaty between Israel and her enemies originated by the antichrist and the start of the 7 year tribulation.
Just wanted to bring it to your attention.
Who Was Paul Talking About?
Published: February 27, 2017I came across Titus 1:15-16, and I can’t help but wonder … was Paul referring to unsaved people, or was he referring to “legalistic” Christians … today’s Pharisees, if you will?
When Was Job Written?
Published: February 27, 2017Again, thank you for a great web site. You help all of us better understand The Word of God. In my spiritual travels I’ve often read that Job may well be one of the oldest books in the Bible and could have been written before the Great Flood. In reading Job 37 this morning I can plainly see that it could not have been written before the Flood, because Elihu talks about rain. I thought it never rained before the flood. What are your thoughts?
