Famine In The Midst Of Plenty

Published: March 14, 2017
Q

Do you see any connection between the Oil and the Wine that the Good Samaritan poured into the injured man’s wounds, compared to the command in Revelation 6 during famine ” See thou hurt not the Oil and the Wine ” ? One commentator said that the latter passage referred to Christians being protected during the tribulation, but that doesn’t square with the Antichrist being given power to overcome the Trib Saints. What say you ?

Unclean Animals

Q

What was the reason for having clean and unclean animals ie. Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14:3-21? Has this been done away with or is it still in force? And was it just for religious reasons or were there health implications/benefits also?

Is Salvation Complicated?

Published: March 13, 2017
Q

Through my studies in soteriology I have reached some confusion regarding the atonement of Christ. When the Bible says to believe in Christ, does that include understanding/believing the significance of Jesus’ blood; what about the exact happenings of Jesus sacrifice onward, like if it was on a cross, and if He went to heaven to sprinkle blood on the mercy seat in Heaven, etc. It seems like there are so many add-ons and technicalities to ‘believe in Jesus.’ The way to salvation is something that we just can’t afford to get wrong- and yet, it seems so easy to make some kind of mistake that could end up sending one to Hell.

How Can I Expect To Be Forgiven?

Published: March 13, 2017
Q

4 yrs ago I lost my wife. We served and loved the Lord for many years together. I led her to Him and know with all my heart she was saved and now is with Him. But since this happened I have slid so far from God. I have withdrawn from any organized church teachings, for I was led to believe that with prayer and faith my wife wouldn’t die. I was told that just by speaking it in faith and standing on his word she would be healed. I did all that and when my wife was called home I lost my faith in Him. Now I have this deep yearning to get back. But how do I ask Him to forgive me for the bitterness I have had and really expect to be forgiven?

Esther And Ezekiel

Published: March 10, 2017
Q

Bless you for your ministry. I’ve just read the book of Esther and I’m wondering if you see a connection with Ezekiel 38? Apart from references to “un-walled villages”? in both, Esther seems to foreshadow Ezekiel 38 in the sense that the Jews are threatened by enemies who seek to annihilate and plunder them and yet it is these enemies who are destroyed. I also found it interesting that when the Jews had destroyed their enemies in Esther that they deliberately chose not to plunder them in return. Do see any connection between Esther and Ezekiel 38?

Was Darius Queen Esther’s Son?

Published: March 10, 2017
Q

I just read an article in the Jerusalem Post that quotes a 13th century Rabbi saying that Esther’s son was named Darius.

I am not real familiar with the exact period of time that Ester lived and affected the life of the Persian King but I believe it was during the time of the Babylonian exile. Is it possible that this Darius is the same king that gave the order to rebuild the Temple?

Living Up To What We Are

Published: March 9, 2017
Q

Paul placed a lot of emphasis on the need for the old man/flesh/carnal man/self to be crucified. What is your take on this, knowing that whatever you yield your members to, his servant ye are, and more over shall we continue to sin because we are under grace?

Should We Spend All Our Time Confessing?

Published: March 9, 2017
Q

I have a question about confessing our sins. Since the Bible says that anything that is not of faith is sin, it would seem that we sin oftentimes without even realizing that we’re sinning. And it would seem that we’re in sin more than we’re out of sin. With that in mind, we’d have to spend almost every waking moment confessing our sins in order to be back in fellowship with God on a continual basis. Do you think God really wants us to spend that much time confessing sins?

An Ash Wednesday Question

Published: March 9, 2017
Q

A question that was asked of me and I would like to hear your opinion. I attend a United Methodist Church that preaches the Word and salvation. But it has a few quirks that do not set well with me. About 5 years ago our Pastor took on the practice of offering Ashes during the Ash Wednesday service. I asked him about it and also asked where in scripture it says to do this and he told me it was a sign of being a repentant Christian in a round about way and that there where no scriptural references to it. But he did point to the old testament practice of ash and sack cloth when repenting.

I was saved in a non denominational church. And have only been with this Methodist church for about 10 years. So I had never been exposed to this practice before. And I have refused to take the Ashes because I equate this with non believers that do it for show. What do you think of this practice of giving ashes?
