According To The Lord’s Own Word

Q

I wonder about this wording in 1st Thes. 4:15. “For this I say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the the coming of the Lord … ” Is Paul referring here to teaching in the scriptures or to personal teaching which he received from the Lord?

Commentary On Matt. 11:11-19

Published: July 7, 2017
Q

I just can’t believe how sparse dispensational commentary data is! Everywhere I look on-line I see replacement theology. I have a Bible Study I teach weekly and currently Matthew is our topic. Would you please provide your commentary regarding Matthew 11:11-19?

The First Shall Be Last

Q

Can you explain what “the first shall be last and the last shall be first” means and why is it that way? It doesn’t make sense to me.

Her Cross To Bear?

Published: July 6, 2017
Q

My grandmother is in a hospital right now in the last stages of alzhiemers. The doctors have said all they can do is comfort her. She can no longer do anything on her own. She can’t even hold a conversation anymore. But the other day she said something that I’ll never ever forget. She said, “Help me God… Help me off my cross to bear.” I need you please, to explain to me what exactly she was saying.

Have Our Future Sins Already Been Forgiven?

Published: July 6, 2017
Q

I recently read an article that claimed the Bible offers no proof that our future sins are forgiven. It says this is just an assumption that Eternal Security advocates have made. It says if that was the case we wouldn’t need Jesus to be our advocate (lawyer), and that Romans 3:24-25 proves that only our past sins were forgiven. I’ve thought of Colossians 2:13-14 “He forgave us all our sins …” as a rebuttal. Are there others?

Taken And Left In Matt. 24:40-41

Published: July 5, 2017
Q

For most of my life, I thought that Matt. 24:40-41 described the Rapture: “Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.” In more recent years I realized Matt. 24 and 25 are not about the Church. So in rereading verse 40 and 41, I realized they are about the sheep and goat judgment. The goats are the ones taken and thrown into the eternal fire. The sheep are left to enter the millennium with Christ. Because of this, I believe the Church is gone before this judgment occurs.

The Importance Of Blood In The Bible

Published: July 5, 2017
Q

I would love to understand the complete meaning and importance of “blood”. It seems to be very important to our Salvation. I know the bible tells us that life is in the blood and also that there is no remission of sin without the shedding of blood. But it seems all kinds of cults and occult practices also place importance on “blood”. Can you explain why blood seems to be an important part of all religious practices?

Did I Lose My Salvation?

Published: July 5, 2017
Q

I went through a horrific year exactly ten years ago and have struggled ever since. I won’t bother you with the details, but trust me it was easily the worst year of my life. Since then I have grown increasingly detached from God and sometimes doubt His existence. I try to put on a good show but I feel like such a hypocrite. Did I lose my salvation? There is still so much pain leftover from it that it blocks my relationship with Him. What gives?

Spreading The Gospel

Published: July 4, 2017
Q

It is my understanding that Jesus commissioned his Disciples to go into all the world and preach the gospel. Yet Peter only briefly spent time with some Gentiles then retreated to Jerusalem and hedged back to Old Covenant works based rituals. Paul, not an original disciple took up the commission, yet even he sometimes got off on works and when he returned to Jerusalem also agreed to participate in Old Covenant rituals. I’ve read one commentator who states it does not matter if Paul did this out of fear of the Jews or sympathy, in doing so, he was betraying his believe in the all sufficiency of Christ’s death and resurrection. As I read the New Testament with this in mind, it seems this was much bigger than I thought.
