Explaining John 21:21-22

Published: July 20, 2017
Q

Re: John 21:21-22. Your interpretation of these verses would be appreciated. Did Jesus, having stepped down from his all knowing throne to assume the form of man, believe that he would be fulfilling the second coming during the lifetime of John? Or was he simply saying that its none of Peters business if John remains alive until his return? Both of these interpretations are hard for me to grasp. Why did Jesus have to forfeit His all knowing powers simply because he took on human form? Don’t His many supernatural miracles contradict that explanation?

Who Is The Day Star?

Published: July 20, 2017
Q

In the KJV, 2 Peter 1:19 refers to day star not morning star. I took this to mean we are to take heed and not be fooled by Satan. The KJV refers to Satan as Lucifer in Isaiah. Some bible versions refer to Satan as morning star in Isaiah and some refer to Satan as day star in Isaiah. I know Christ is the morning star. Who is the day star – Christ or Satan?

What Can I Say?

Q

I have a friend who is a total skeptic but was recently in a very serious accident. The doctors marvel that he is even alive. I have attributed his survival to God’s plans for his future, but he’s not convinced. What can I say to someone who still shows no interest in the Lord even after something like this?

Should I Support This Church?

Published: July 19, 2017
Q

Should I go to and support a church that has anything to do with Jewish persecution in any way or form? Are there any Bible verses that would support this view of not going to a church that believes in Jewish persecution? I was very close to joining this church when I discovered this about the church as a whole.

Stop Telling Lies

Q

In previous posts you keep telling your readers that if you tithe regularly and support Israel you will be showered with blessings. If this is the case, why did my friend at work stab me in the back and steal my job? And why is my father now threatening to throw me out on the street because I haven’t found another one yet, even though I’ve only been laid off two weeks and I’m actively looking for work? There are a lot of things I stopped doing years now, such as witchcraft and watching porn. I’ve always supported Israel, financially as well as emotionally. Yet it seems I can’t do anything to please anyone, least of all God. I wish you would stop telling your readers lies.

Was Judas a Believer? Follow Up

Published: July 14, 2017
Q

Do You think Judas was a believer when He was chosen to be one of the 12? And if he wasn’t why did the Lord choose him? I don’t believe in predestination so I don’t believe Judas was predestined to betray the Lord. What do you think?

Sin And Self Mutilation

Q

Your explanations on the difference between Union and Fellowship have been very helpful to me in quelling the fears about a salvation that can seem so tenuous when it is not properly understood. I was just about to breath a big sigh of OSAS relief until I re-read the “cutting off the hand that causes you to sin” teaching in Matt. 5:29-30. Jesus seems to be saying that we must excise sin in our lives with drastic measures or there is a danger that we could go to hell. Do we just content ourselves with all the clear passages of OSAS and write this off as an unclear teaching? Do we assume that Jesus is saying something other than that sin will cause us to go to hell if we don’t take measures to quash it?

The Origin Of Baptism

Published: July 14, 2017
Q

In John 3 Jesus was baptizing people and John’s followers got into an argument with a Jewish man about purification. Could water baptism have been born out of this Jewish rite of purification? Does it mean that our spirits are now clean like purification meant that their bodies were clean for ceremonies? I was just curious trying to understand how the argument came up during the time of water baptism.

Fighting Against Anger

Q

Sometimes I feel like such a spiritual mess. I try hard to not let people bother me. I am doing a lot better than I used to because I try to think “eternal perspective, eternal perspective”. It usually helps, but sometimes I mess up and get so MAD!!! I sometimes think that when the Rapture comes, I will still be standing in the same spot because I was only fooling myself that I was saved. I have read your articles on OSAS, but that thought still creeps in. I plan to read the Bible specifically regarding temper and anger. Is there a certain verse that I could memorize and try to say in my mind, whenever people get to be too much?

The Best Man And The Bride’s Father

Q

I once heard a TV preacher say that John the Baptist is the friend of the Bridegroom (John 3:29), and that Paul has the equivalent position with the bride (2 Corinthians 11:2). And that they both could have future roles at the marriage supper of the Lamb. What are your thoughts on this?
