Meal Time Prayer

Published: September 1, 2017
Q

The blessing at meal-time has become a source of derision in our family. The repetitive nature of it makes my skin crawl each time it is said. Also, it is my belief that the head of the household should say the evening meal prayer. But my husband disagrees. He feels everyone should take turns saying it. Now nobody wants to. I wish it was lovely and different each time and that we could include things that are happening in our family and ask for specific blessings, etc. But is that more like a regular prayer and not a meal-time blessing?

Why Does He Bother?

Q

If a person is saved once and for all time why does Satan even bother tempting them to sin? Why would he waste his time on something he can’t change?

Shouldn’t My Friend Attend A Church?

Published: August 31, 2017
Q

I have a friend who has not gone to church for years. She says she is a Christian but can’t seem to find a church that suits her and does not believe Christians have to go to church anyway. I think if you really are a Christian you will thirst for God’s word and want to go. What do you think?

The Time Before The Law

Q

I have some confusion about Romans 7:9 where Paul talks about the age of accountability. It would seem to imply that no one died spiritually before the law was given. That would give a free pass to everyone before Moses and maybe those in countries who have never heard what the scriptures say about the Law. Can that be right?

Happy to Be Here vs. Anxious to Leave

Published: August 30, 2017
Q

There have been many letters to you regarding anxiously awaiting His return vs. living each day to the fullest. I’ve got to admit, I am in a spiritual conundrum. We are either happy to be here or anxiously awaiting Him to rescue us. How can we be both? If you like it on the planet, how can you be happy to leave? If you don’t because last day events are so trying and His own are targets, do you still get a crown because you seek to be rescued?

Whose Home Was It? Follow Up

Q

Re: Whose Home Was It? After hours of research and cross referencing, I just don’t see how you came to the conclusions you did about Mary, Martha, and Lazarus and their relationship to Simon the Leper. Could you let me know how you did, as I am most interested?

Also, for many reasons, I don’t believe the passage in Luke 7:37 are the same people either. The passage does not mention the woman by name and I don’t believe Jesus would have told Mary, at this stage, her sins were forgiven. Other reasons is this Pharisee didn’t show Jesus the courtesy or respect I believe those in above passage would have.

Saved But Don’t Enjoy Church

Published: August 30, 2017
Q

I have a question about church attendance and being saved. I know that we are only saved by what we believe, but what about someone who does not enjoy going to church? I love Jesus and I love being around other Christians but honestly I find church sort of a drag. It is so ritualistic and I find some of the people there think the building is more important than the relationship. How should I deal with this?

What About The Miracles? Follow Up

Published: August 29, 2017
Q

Re: What About The Miracles? You said through our faith in Christ the miraculous power of the Holy Spirit is available to us in our present day. When I look at the church, (meaning the people) I wonder where has that power gone?

Whose Home Was It?

Q

Regarding the anointing of Jesus. According to Matt. 26:6, Mark 14:3, John 12:3, whose house was Jesus in at this time? A friend thinks it is a contradiction. I don’t, but I don’t know how to explain it. Thank you for your answer.
