Don’t Pray For America, Follow Up

Q

I want to thank you for this message. I have for awhile felt that this nation was set on a path and there was no turning back. I keep hearing preachers talking about a revival coming. I don’t see a revival coming before the rapture. but I do believe there will be the greatest revival of all times afterward, though I wouldn’t want to be here for that revival. I just wanted your opinion how bad it may get for the church here in the US before the rapture.

A

The talk about a coming revival has been going on in some American churches for over 20 years now, and is based on a non-Biblical doctrine called Dominion Theology. This view holds that the church will continue to get stronger and stronger until it takes over the world and cleans it up in preparation for the Lord’s return. In effect it’s the opposite of what the Bible says about the End Times.

The Bible says the true Church will continue to decline in influence while the apostate church grows stronger as the end of the age approaches. As we can see, society is becoming less and less tolerant of the Christian world view. Even in America, which was founded on principles of religious freedom, Christians are increasingly finding themselves excluded from exercising these freedoms, even to the extent of laws being passed to restrict what we can say and do.

The Bible doesn’t say how bad things might get, but it does say that in being saved we didn’t receive a spirit that makes us a slave again to fear, but rather the Spirit of sonship. (Romans 8:15) We are God’s children and can expect His protection in the days ahead. Our job is to re-acquire the ability to walk by faith not by sight (2 Cor. 5:7).
